What to do:
- It isn’t too late to get out the Advent wreath, if you haven’t already!
- Celebrate St. Nicholas’s feast day on Sunday, Dec. 6. I love the Veggie Tales version of the story – cute and short. Or, there are many books to read out there.
- Prepare for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on Tuesday, Dec. 8.
- Plan for the feast of Our Lady of Gaudalupe on Saturday, Dec. 12.
Hymn Study of the Week – People, Look East
Thoughts for the Week
The readings this week reflect hope: hope for the tired, the sad, the lost, the afflicted, for all those who long for something more. The readings also give a sense of wonder – who is this God who communicates over and over to His people? Wonder in the God who takes us by the hand and leads us. Wonder that He cares for us so much.
In addition, this week is truly the week of Mary. We have the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on Tuesday this week and, because of the way the calendar falls, we also get the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Saturday. Living in the Diocese of Dallas, where our Cathedral is the Cathedral Guadalupe, that is a big day!
These two Marian feast days will lead us straight up to the 3rd Sunday of Advent, where the psalm will be the Magnificat of Mary from Luke’s Gospel.
May our blessed Mother lead us always to Her son. Mother Mary, pray for us!
